LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments to the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care:
Mary Ellen Baker of Rochester, department head of respiratory care for Wright and Filippis. Ms. Baker is appointed to represent respiratory therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2005.
Malita L. Barrett of Detroit, attorney for the Law Office of Malita Barrett. Ms. Barrett is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2004. She is also reappointed to a term expiring December 31, 2008.
James R. Berry, Jr. of Detroit, registered respiratory therapist and medical equipment consultant for William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Mr. Berry is appointed to represent respiratory therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2005.
Frank J. Couckuyt of Shelby Township, volunteer of the American Lung Association. Mr. Couckuyt is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2006.
Randall M. Kehr of Grandville, director of respiratory care services at Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids. Mr. Kehr is appointed to represent respiratory care for a term expiring December 31, 2004. He is also reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2008.
Frank R. Sprague of Muskegon, vice president and chief medical officer for Mercy General Health Partners. Mr. Sprague is appointed to represent medical directors for a term expiring December 31, 2007.
David L. Zobeck of Jenison, assistant professor of respiratory care and director of clinical education at Ferris State University. Mr. Zobeck is appointed to represent respiratory therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2007.
The Michigan Board of Respiratory Care was recently created by an amendment to the Public Health Code. It is responsible for overseeing the licensure of respiratory therapists in Michigan, and for reviewing and approving rules in the scope of practice for respiratory therapists.
These appointments and reappointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
