Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Midwestern Higher Education Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments to the Midwestern Higher Education Commission:
David L. Eisler of Big Rapids, president of Ferris State University. Mr. Eisler is appointed as an at-large member to represent higher education for a term expiring March 8, 2005. He succeeds William Sederburg, who has resigned. Mr. Eisler is also reappointed to serve a full term, expiring March 8, 2009.
Conway A. Jeffress of Novi, president of Schoolcraft College. Mr. Jeffress is appointed as an at-large member for a term expiring March 8, 2007. He succeeds Keith A. Pretty whose term has expired.
In addition, Lieutenant Governor John D. Cherry, Jr. is named as the Governor’s designee of the Midwestern Higher Education Commission until January 1, 2007.
The Midwestern Higher Education Commission is the Midwest’s largest interstate resource-sharing commission for higher education. Its purpose is to provide greater higher education opportunities and services for citizens residing in the Midwest region.
These appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
