LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Board of Nursing:
Earl G. Auty, CRNA, MS of Grosse Pointe Park, director of anesthesia, pre-op and recovery room at Providence Hospital in Southfield. Mr. Auty is appointed to represent nurse anesthetists for a term expiring June 30, 2009. He succeeds Mary Jean Yablonky whose term has expired.
Laurice M. Bray, LPN of Livonia, community mental health trainer at Training & Treatment Innovations, Inc. Ms. Bray is appointed to represent licensed practical nurses for a term expiring June 30, 2008. She succeeds Karol A. Cain whose term has expired.
Christopher E. Hermann, MSN, APRB, BC, NP-C of Dearborn Heights, nurse practitioner for the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. Mr. Hermann is appointed to represent nurse practitioners for a term expiring June 30, 2009. He succeeds Jonnie Hamilton whose term has expired.
Kathleen A. V. Lavery, CNM of Jackson, owner of Everyday Blessings Midwifery, PLLC (DBA Health Care for Women). Ms. Lavery is appointed to represent nurse midwives for a term expiring June 30, 2009. She succeeds Constance Powe-Watts whose term has expired.
Mary M. MacEachern, LPN of Cadillac, staff nurse at Grand Oaks Nursing Center. Ms. MacEachern is appointed to represent licensed practical nurses for a term expiring June 30, 2009. She succeeds Nancy Adams whose term has expired.
Donica M. Stubbs, RN of Inkster, staff nurse at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center. Ms. Stubbs is appointed to represent registered professional nurses with a baccalaureate degree engaged in nursing practice or nursing administration for a term expiring June 30, 2008. She succeeds Raquel Banks who has resigned.
The Michigan Board of Nursing is responsible for the interpretation of licensure and examination of registered professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, and for the certification of nursing specialists. The board also sets minimum standards of practice, assesses penalties when standards are not met, and recommends licensure to schools that provide nursing programs.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
