Governor Granholm Makes Appointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments to the State Waterways Commission and Michigan Aeronautics Commission:
State Waterways Commission
Bryan L. Amann of Canton, attorney and partner with Brashear, Tangora, Gallagher, Creighton & Amann, LLP. Mr. Amann is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring September 18, 2008. He succeeds David Giffin whose term has expired.
Robert B. Brown of St. Ignace, general manager for Arnold Transit Company. Mr. Brown is appointed to represent members who represent the marine industry, do not own or operate a harbor or marina, and reside north of Townline 16 in the Upper Peninsula for a term expiring September 18, 2008. He succeeds John Winn whose term has expired.
The Michigan State Waterways Commission is responsible for the acquisition, construction, and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, and docking and launching facilities. It is also responsible for the administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.
Michigan Aeronautics Commission
Catherine Groll of Lansing, counsel with Knaggs, Harter, Brake & Schneider, P.C. Ms. Groll is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring May 27, 2009. She succeeds Lowell Kraft whose term has expired.
The Michigan Aeronautics Commission is responsible for the general supervision of all aeronautics within the state. It is empowered by state law to make rules and regulations governing all airports, flight schools, and other aeronautical activities.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. The appointments stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
