LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema, and Speaker of the House Craig DeRoche today underscored their shared support for the sale of state land near Ann Arbor to Toyota Technical Center USA, Inc. and issued the following joint statement:
We clearly intended to authorize the sale of surplus state property and completely support the decision to sell the property to Toyota to create hundreds of good jobs here in Michigan. When the opportunity to partner with Toyota to create highly skilled jobs and increase capital investment arose, the executive and legislative branches of state government acted swiftly and without hesitation. We urge the judicial branch to do the same. Time is of the essence.
The three vowed today to work together to ensure that the sale to Toyota will go forward.
