Governor Makes Appointments, Reappointments

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments to the Veterans’ Trust Fund Board of Trustees, the Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission, the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and the Michigan Board of Cosmetology:
Veterans’ Trust Fund Board of Trustees
Ronald L. Amend of Reese, retired. Mr. Amend is reappointed to represent the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States for a term commencing February 26, 2006 and expiring February 25, 2009.
Edward J. Florence, Jr. of Farmington Hills, retired. Mr. Florence is reappointed to represent the American Veterans of World War II-Korean-Vietnam for a term expiring February 25, 2008.
James L. Lane of St. Helen, retired. Mr. Lane is reappointed to represent the American Legion for a term commencing February 26, 2006 and expiring February 25, 2009.
Thomas L. Tomlinson of St. Clair Shores, retired. Mr. Tomlinson is reappointed to represent the Disabled American Veterans for a term expiring February 25, 2008.
Sandra Wilson of Saline, retired. Ms. Wilson is reappointed to represent the Vietnam Veterans of America for a term expiring February 25, 2008.
The Michigan Veterans’ Trust Fund Board of Trustees provides for temporary assistance, through the earning of funds, to veterans and their dependents for emergency and educational purposes. The board also dispenses tuition funding to children of veterans killed in service or fully disabled.
These reappointments are not subject to disapproval.
Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission
Daniel D. Inglis of Rudyard, branch manager of Gold Eagle Supply Company. Mr. Inglis is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 18, 2008. He succeeds Thomas Mullaney whose term has expired.
The Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park Commission assists the Department of Management and Budget in the development, management and maintenance of the Michigan Veterans’ Memorial Park.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery
Steven A. Acker, D.O. of Ann Arbor, orthopedic surgeon with Bi-County Orthopedic Surgeons, P.C. Dr. Acker is appointed to represent osteopathic physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2009. He succeeds Frank.D. Winters whose term has expired.
Kathleen M. Carney of Brighton, consultant with Children’s Orchard. Ms. Carney is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2008. She succeeds Patricia A. Labelle whose term has expired.
The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Michigan Board of Cosmetology
Andrea F. Blankinship of Swartz Creek, adjunct associate professor of cosmetology with Mott Community College. Ms. Blankinship is appointed to represent cosmetologists for a term expiring December 31, 2009. She succeeds Robert E. Willis whose term has expired.
Edith A. Marshall of Eastpointe, technical consultant of cosmentology with the Warren Woods Adult Education cosmetology department. Ms. Marshall is reappointed to represent cosmetologists for a term expiring December 31, 2009.
The Michigan Board of Cosmetology provides for the licensing and regulation of cosmetologists, cosmetology schools, cosmetology instructors, electrologists, and manicurists.
This appointment and reappointment are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
