Granholm Names Long-Term Care Task Force Members

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced 14 appointments to the state’s Michigan Long-Term Care Supports and Services Advisory Commission.
 
“It is important to ensure that our state’s long-term care services remain the highest quality,” Granholm said.  “This commission will play a critical role in implementing recommendations from the state’s Medicaid Long-Term Care Task Force and will serve as an effective and visible advocate for improving the quality of our long-term care system.”
 
The appointees are as follows:
Eight members representing primary and secondary consumers of long-term care supports and services

•  Dohn Hoyle, of Brighton, executive director of The ARC Michigan and a former member of the Medicaid Long-Term Care Task Force.

• Linda Mulligan, of Ironwood, regional sales director for Ameriplan USA;
• William Mania, of Bloomfield Hills, resident council president of Medilodge of Bloomfield Hills;
• William Gutos, of Grand Rapids, retired;
• Toni Wilson, of Waterford, Long Term Care Ombudsman, Citizens for Better Care;
• RoAnne Chaney, of East Lansing, health policy coordinator for the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition and the former chair of the state’s Medicaid Long Term Care Task Force;
• James Frances-Bohr, of Lansing, information technology specialist with the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition;
• Marcia Moers, of East Lansing, community advocacy coordinator, Capital Area Center for Independent Living.

Two members representing providers of Medicaid-funded long-term care supports and services

•  Yolanda McKinney, of Southfield, CEO and executive director of Caring HeartsHome Care, and former member of the Medicaid Long-Term Care Task Force.
•  Jon Reardon, of Saginaw, owner and administrator of Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre.

Three members representing direct care staff providing long-term care supports and services

• Hollis Turnham, of Lansing, Michigan policy director for the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute.
• Wendall Stone, of Detroit, business representative of SEIU Local 79.
• Sandra Kilde, of Lansing, president and CEO of the Michigan Association for Homes and Services to the Aging.

One member representing the general public

• The Reverend Charles Williams, of Detroit, MI AFSCME.

Marcia Moers is also designated chairperson of the task force.

The Michigan Long-Term Care Supports and Services Advisory Commission will assist in the development and implementation of policy and strategies for the Medicaid Long-Term Care Task Force recommendations. 

These appointments are not subject to disapproval.
