LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Judicial Tenure Commission, the Michigan Travel Commission, the Workers’ Compensation Qualification Advisory Committee, and the Ski Area Safety Board:
Judicial Tenure Commission
Ronald F. Rose of Lansing, former assistant attorney general, currently serving as the vice-chair of the Utility Consumer Participation Board. Mr. Rose is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2008. He succeeds Rick Simonson whose term has expired.
The Judicial Tenure Commission recommends to the Michigan Supreme Court the censure, suspension with or without salary, retirement or removal of a judge for conviction of a felony, physical or mental disability preventing the performance of judicial duties, misconduct in office, persistent failure to perform duties, habitual intemperance, or conduct clearly prejudicial to the administration of justice.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
Michigan Travel Commission
Patricia E. Mooradian of Bloomfield Hills, president of The Henry Ford. Ms. Mooradian is appointed to represent persons experienced in the travel, tourism, and recreation industry, or a related field, for a term expiring August 20, 2009. She succeeds Steven K. Hamp who has resigned.
The Michigan Travel Commission is responsible for assisting Travel Michigan in developing a comprehensive, long-range vision for tourism. Travel Michigan is an agency housed within the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) that promotes tourism within the state of Michigan.
This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Workers’ Compensation Qualifications Advisory Committee
Diane M. Kwitoski of Ortonville, attorney in private practice. Ms. Kwitoski is appointed to represent employee interests for a term expiring October 1, 2008. She succeeds Edward Welch who has resigned.
The Workers’ Compensation Qualifications Advisory Committee reviews and rates applicants interested in serving on the Workers’ Compensation Board of Magistrates and Workers’ Compensation Appellate Commission.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval.
Ski Area Safety Board
Michael S. Call of Beulah, vice president of mountain operations with Crystal Mountain Resort. Mr. Call is appointed to represent Lower Peninsula ski area managers for a term expiring June 8, 2009. He succeeds James MacInnes whose term has expired.
William C. Topham of Midland, general manager of Snow Machines, Inc. Mr. Topham is appointed to represent engineers with ski experience for a term expiring June 8, 2007. He succeeds Jeffrey Deacon whose term has expired.
Joel M. Woods of Harbor Springs, general area manager of Boyne Highlands. Mr. Woods is appointed to represent Lower Peninsula ski area managers for a term expiring June 8, 2009. He succeeds Art Tebo whose term has expired.
The Ski Area Safety Board is responsible for protecting the public using ski areas and lifts by promulgating rules for the safe construction, installation, repair, use, operation, maintenance, and inspection of all ski areas and ski lifts.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
