Governor Granholm Appoints James Waters to Board of State Canvassers

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of James L. Waters to the Board of State Canvassers. Waters, of Muskegon Heights, is president and senior director of Waters & Cook, P.C. law firm.
Mr. Waters is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring January 31, 2009. He succeeds Paul Mitchell who has resigned.
The Board of State Canvassers determines the results of all elections for governor, lieutenant governor, state officers, and such other officers as prescribed by law.
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
