Governor Granholm Appoints Washington-Kendrick to Board of State Canvassers

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointment of Erane C. Washington-Kendrick to the Board of State Canvassers. Washington-Kendrick, of Ypsilanti, is judicial attorney and assistant to Judge Donald E. Shelton. Ms. Washington-Kendrick serves as president of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and as treasurer of the Washtenaw County Democratic Party.
Ms. Washington-Kendrick is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring January 31, 2007. She succeeds Doyle O’Connor who has resigned.
The Board of State Canvassers determines the results of all elections for governor, lieutenant governor, state officers, and other such officers as prescribed by law.
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
