Granholm Designates Chair, Makes Appointments to Michigan Long-Term Care Supports and Services Advisory Commission

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today designated the chair and announced the following appointments to the Michigan Long-Term Care Supports and Services Advisory Commission:

Andrew A. Farmer of Lansing, associate state director for health and supportive services of AARP of Michigan. Mr. Farmer is designated as chairperson of the commission to serve at the pleasure of the governor.  He was originally appointed to the commission in March 2006.

Robert J. Allison of Royal Oak, deputy director of Michigan Quality Home Care Campaign.  Mr. Allison is appointed to represent direct care staff providing long-term supports and services for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  He succeeds Wendall Stone whose term has expired.

RoAnne Chaney of East Lansing, health policy coordinator for the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition.  Ms. Chaney is reappointed to represent primary or secondary consumers of long-term care supports and services for a term expiring December 31, 2010. 

Marsha M. Moers of East Lansing, community advocacy coordinator for Capital Area Center for Independent Living.  Ms. Moers is reappointed to represent primary or secondary consumers of long-term care supports and services for a term expiring December 31, 2010. 

Jon R. Reardon of Saginaw, owner and administrator for the Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center.  Mr. Reardon is reappointed to represent providers of Medicaid-funded long-term care supports and services for a term expiring December 31, 2010.

The commission was created as an advisory body within the Michigan Department of Community Health, and serves as a forum for the discussion of issues related to the provision of long-term care supports and services in Michigan.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
