LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
Midwest Interstate Rail Passenger Advisory Council
Ben Kohrman of Lansing, policy advisor to the governor, is appointed to represent the governor for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Robert C. Polk Sr. of Detroit, director of M2 International, is appointed to represent the private sector for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
The Commission promotes, coordinates and supports regional improvements to passenger rail service by promoting development and implementation of improvements and long-range plans for intercity passenger rail service in the Midwest; coordinating interaction among Midwestern state officials and among the public and private sector at all levels (federal, state and local); and supporting current state efforts being conducted through state departments of transportation. The compact has been signed by the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Michigan Quality Community Care Council
Scott Heinzman of Livonia, is reappointed to represent consumers for a term expiring June 17, 2010.
Dohn Hoyle of Brighton, executive director of The ARC Michigan, is reappointed to represent consumer advocates for a term expiring June 17, 2011.
Hassan Jaber of Dearborn, chief operating officer for the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Service (A.C.C.E.S.S.), is reappointed to represent consumer advocates for a term expiring June 17, 2010.
The Council is charged with promoting and coordinating effective and efficient personal assistance services, including the objective of creating and maintaining one or more registries of providers in designated Michigan communities.
These reappointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
