LANSING- Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments:
Task Force to Review the Adequacy of Surface Transportation and Aeronautics Service Provision and Finance in Michigan
Cindy B. Elliott of Midland, supply chain sourcing director of The Dow Chemical Company, is appointed to represent manufacturing for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Dennis H. Gillow of Lake City, treasurer and infrastructure division director of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324, is appointed to represent labor for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
John A. James of Farmington Hills, chairman of the James Group International, Inc., is appointed to represent transportation for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Ann M. Jousma-Miller of Gladstone, director of the Delta County Economic Development Alliance director and current Michigan Agriculture commissioner, is appointed to represent agriculture for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Michael A. Nystrom of East Lansing, vice president of government and public relations for the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, is appointed for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Roger F. Salo of Plymouth, director of aviation for the Masco Corporation, is appointed to represent aviation for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Richard K. Studley of Grand Ledge, executive vice president of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, is appointed to represent commerce for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Peter J. Varga of Grand Rapids, chief executive officer of Interurban Transit Partnership-The Rapid, is appointed to represent public transit for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
L. Susan Zehnder of Frankenmuth, vice president of human services for Zehnder's of Frankenmuth, is appointed to represent tourism for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
The task force is a 9-member group that will review the adequacy of surface transportation and aeronautics service provision and finance in Michigan. They will review strategies for maximizing the return on transportation investments and evaluate the potential of alternate strategies to replace or supplement the state motor fuel taxes, existing and alternative user fees, and nonuser revenues to support economic activity and personal mobility in Michigan. The task force will receive recommendations from the citizens advisory committee.
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Boyd M. Blashfield of Bloomfield Hills, director of governmental relations of CenTra, Inc., is appointed to represent the Michigan Trucking Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Gloria R. Combe of Northville, principal of Gloria Combe-Combe Consultants, Inc., is appointed to represent the Michigan Railroads Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Daniel M. DeGraaf of Dewitt, executive director and CEO of Michigan Concrete Paving Association, is appointed to represent the Michigan Concrete Paving Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Gretchen D. Driskell of Saline, mayor of the city of Saline, is appointed to represent the Michigan Municipal League for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Michael W. Fikes of Grand Blanc, legislative and community relations director of the Michigan Laborers' District Council, is appointed to represent the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
William E. Gehman of Grand Ledge, senior aviation consultant with Mead & Hunt, Inc., is appointed to represent the Michigan Business Aviation Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Russell A. Gronevelt of Plymouth, president of Orchard, Hiltz & McCliment, Inc., is appointed to represent the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Kari L. Hughston of McBain, office manager of Lum Hughston Trucking LLC, is appointed to represent the Michigan Farm Bureau for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
James A. Klett of Dowagiac, manager of Klett Construction Company, is appointed to represent the Asphalt Paving Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
James A. Koslosky of Grand Rapids, aeronautics director of Gerald R. Ford International Airport, is appointed to represent the Michigan Association of Airport Executives for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Keith P. Ledbetter of Lansing, director of legislative affairs of the Michigan Infrastructure & Transportation Association, is appointed to represent the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
William A. McFarlane of Ypsilanti, township supervisor of Superior Township, is appointed to represent the Michigan Townships Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
John D. Niemela of Belding, director of the County Road Association of Michigan, is appointed to represent the County Road Association of Michigan for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Sylvester Payne of Freeland, general manager of the Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services, is appointed to represent the Michigan Public Transit Association for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Steward E. Sandstrom of Kalamazoo, president and CEO of Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce, is appointed to represent the Michigan State Chamber of Commerce for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Kirk T. Steudle of South Lyon, director of the Michigan Department of Transportation, is appointed to represent the Michigan Department of Transportation for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
Robert C. Struck of Marquette, executive director of the UP-EMS Corporation, is appointed to represent the Michigan Association of Counties for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.
The citizens advisory committee is a 19-member group that will receive and comment on all reports, studies, and recommendations prepared by the various designated technical subcommittees of the citizen advisory committee before but not later than the submission of the reports, studies, and recommendations of the task force. They will provide members of the task force their majority, minority, or individual views of the reports, studies, and recommendations of the various designated technical subcommittees.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
