LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
State Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board
Abby B. Dart of Harbor Springs, program director of Scenic Michigan in Petoskey, is reappointed to represent parents for a term expiring December 19, 2010.
Paul N. Shaheen of Bath, executive director of the Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health, is reappointed to represent professional providers of child abuse and neglect prevention services for a term expiring December 19, 2010.
Scott M. Stevenson of Haslett, president of the Telecommunications Association of Michigan, is reappointed to represent volunteers in child abuse and neglect prevention services for a term expiring December 19, 2010.
Tamara D. Vander Ark of Grand Haven, union representative for UFCW 951, is reappointed to represent organized labor for a term expiring December 19, 2010.
Sophie J. Womack of Detroit, vice president of medical affairs for Harper University and Hutzel Women's Hospital, is reappointed to represent the religious community for a term expiring December 19, 2010.
The State Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, also known as the Children's Trust Fund, is responsible for developing a plan to distribute funds to statewide education programs that work to develop awareness of child abuse and neglect.
These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Board of Law Examiners
Elizabeth P. Hardy of Ann Arbor, attorney with Kienbaum, Opperwall, Hardy & Pelton, P.C., is appointed, on nomination by the Michigan Supreme Court, to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2012. She succeeds Louis A. Smith who has resigned.
The Board of Law Examiners was created by the Legislature to oversee the investigation and examination of persons who apply for admission to the State Bar. The office administers the Bar exam twice a year, in February and July, and then releases the exam results. The office also processes applications for recertification from attorneys who have been on inactive status for more than three years and wish to resume active practice in Michigan.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Michigan Bean Commission
John E. Densmore of Ithaca, owner and operator of a private farm, is appointed to represent District 2 growers for a term expiring December 31, 2010. He succeeds Lowell F. Anderson whose term has expired.
Ross E. Voelker of Pigeon, president of Greenfield Farm, Inc., is appointed to represent District 6 growers for a term expiring December 31, 2010. He succeeds Neal S. Gettel whose term has expired.
Jack C. Frank of Bay City, president of Frank Farms, Inc., is reappointed to represent District 1 growers for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
Fran K. Arbogast-Carlson of Howard City, owner of Carlson-Arbogast Farm, is reappointed to represent District 7 growers for a term expiring December 31, 2010.
The commission's main focus is on research and promotion of the dry edible bean market within the state.

Farm Produce Insurance Authority
Scott D. Miller of Elsie, owner and operator of Miller Farms, is appointed to represent the largest Michigan organization exclusively representing the interests of corn producers in Michigan for a term expiring June 20, 2010. He succeeds William L. Uphaus whose term has expired.
Carmen L. Cousino of Temperance, secretary for Cousino Family Farms, Inc., is reappointed to represent producers from the largest Michigan organization representing general farm interests in Michigan for a term expiring June 20, 2010.
Lyle H. LeCronier of Freeland, co-owner of LeCronier Farm, is reappointed to represent the largest Michigan organization exclusively representing the interests of soybean producers in Michigan for a term expiring June 20, 2010.
Arthur A. Loeffler of Frankenmuth, president of Star of the West Milling Co., is reappointed to represent the largest Michigan organization representing the interests of licensees in Michigan as a nonvoting member for a term expiring June 20, 2010.
Mark K. Stoeckle of Cass City, vice president of Thumb National Bank & Trust Co., is reappointed to represent the largest Michigan organization representing the interests of agricultural lenders in Michigan for a term expiring June 20, 2010.
Gene R. Van Driessche of Bay City, co-owner of Van Driessche Farms, Inc. & Van Driessche Partnership, is reappointed to represent the largest Michigan organization exclusively representing dry bean producers in Michigan for a term expiring June 20, 2010.
The board is created by the Farm Produce Insurance Act which was passed by the Legislature and signed by the governor in 2003. The board of directors is responsible for establishing a new program in which producers of dry beans, grains, or corn could contribute a percentage of their proceeds to a new fund and could recover from the fund any losses caused by a grain dealer's financial failure.

Michigan Forest Finance Authority Board of Directors
Paul J. Eisele of Saline, consultant to Masco Corporation, the largest kitchen cabinet and plumbing product manufacturer in the United States, is reappointed to represent the wood products manufacturing industry for a term expiring May 31, 2009.
Shawn P. Hagan of Toivola, director of forest operations for the Forestland Group, LLC Great Lakes Region, is reappointed to represent owners of nonindustrial, private forestland for a term expiring May 31, 2010.
Garrett M. Johnson of East Lansing, chief conservation officer for the Nature Conservancy, Michigan Chapter, is reappointed to represent hunters, anglers, and other outdoor recreation interests for a term expiring May 31, 2009.
Warren H. Suchovsky of Stephenson, co-owner of Suchovsky Logging, LLC, is reappointed to represent commercial logging contractors for a term expiring May 31, 2010.
The Michigan Forest Finance Authority Board of Directors manages the financing of forest management operations, implementing a system of forest management, issues bonds or notes, and contracts for timber-cutting rights.

Commission of Natural Resources
Mary C. Brown, a Democrat, of Kalamazoo, former member of the House of Representatives, is reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
Rev. Hurley J. Coleman, a Democrat of Saginaw, pastor of Greater Coleman Temple of God in Christ, is reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2011.
The commission establishes general policies for the Department of Natural Resources and hires the department's director. Voter adoption of Proposal G in November 1996 vests exclusive authority in the Commission of Natural Resources to regulate the taking of game.

Dennis C. Muchmore of Laingsburg, executive director of the Michigan United Conservation Club, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring October 1, 2010. He succeeds the late Marvin S. Washington.
Lana B. Pollack of Ann Arbor, president of the Michigan Environmental Council, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring October 1, 2010.

State Transportation Commission
Maureen Miller Brosnan of Livonia, previous council member for the city of Livonia, is reappointed for a term expiring December 21, 2010.
James R. Rosendall of Grand Rapids, vice president of market development for Synagro Technologies, Inc., is reappointed for a term expiring December 21, 2010.
The State Transportation Commission establishes policies for the Department of Transportation, its programs and facilities, and other public works of the state, as provided by law. Responsibilities of the commission include the development and implementation of comprehensive transportation plans for the entire state, providing professional and technical assistance, and overseeing the administration of state and federal funds allocated for these programs.
These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Judicial Tenure Commission
Marja M. Winters of Detroit, director of the office of neighborhood commercial revitalization for the city of Detroit, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2010. She succeeds Diane M. Garrison whose term has expired.
The Judicial Tenure Commission recommends to the Supreme Court the censure, suspension with or without salary, retirement or removal of a judge for conviction of a felony, physical or mental disability preventing the performance of judicial duties, misconduct in office, persistent failure to perform duties, habitual intemperance, or conduct clearly prejudicial to the administration of justice.
This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Public School Employees' Retirement Board
Susan W. Meston, Ph.D. of Spring Lake, superintendent for the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District, is appointed to represent school superintendents for a term expiring March 30, 2009. She succeeds Gary W. Allen who has resigned.
The Michigan Public School Employees' Retirement Board is responsible for the investigation of the morality, service, compensation, and other experiences of members and beneficiaries of the public school retirement system. The board is charged to invest and distribute any or all of the monies. Additionally, every five years, the board must formulate and present a plan to direct the operation of the retirement.
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
