LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:
Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Paul F. Thill of Midland, associate professor of Pharmacy Practice at Ferris State University, is appointed to represent pharmacists for a term expiring October 1, 2009. He succeeds Dean A. Van Loo whose term has expired.
Jonathan M. Arend of Owosso, consultant pharmacist with Specialized Pharmacy Services, Inc. in Livonia, is reappointed to represent pharmacists for a term expiring October 1, 2009.
James E. Dillon, M.D. of Ann Arbor, chief of clinical affairs and director of psychiatric and medical services with the Michigan Department of Community Health Corrections Mental and Substance Abuse Administration Program, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2009.
Justus J. Fiechtner, M.D., M.P.H. of Okemos, physician/rheumatologist in private practice, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2009.
Giovannino A. Perri, M.D., M.P.H. of Lansing, chief medical consultant with the Michigan Department of Community Health Medical Services Administration, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2009.
Rockelle D. Rogers, M.D. of Portage, medical director with Family Health Center, Inc. in Kalamazoo, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2009.
The Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee advises the Department of Community Health on issues affecting prescription drug coverage for its various health-care programs.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
Commission on Services to the Aging
Joan A. Budden an independent of Bloomfield Hills, vice president of individual business for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2011. She succeeds William H. Walters II whose term has expired.
Cheryl J. Bollinger a Democrat of Mason, technical division program coordinator for SEIU 517M, is reappointed for a term expiring July 28, 2011.
Mary P. Gardner, Ph.D. a Democrat of Lansing, community organizer for the Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality, is reappointed for a term expiring July 28, 2011.
Chun-Keung Leung an independent of Bloomfield Hills, retired program manager for Delphi, is reappointed for a term expiring July 28, 2011.
Thomas G. Rau a Republican, of Brighton, owner of Nexcare Health Systems, LLC, is reappointed for a term expiring July 28, 2011.
The Commission on Services to the Aging advises the Office of Services to the Aging, the governor, and the Legislature on matters related to policies and programs for older and aging persons in Michigan. The commission also promotes senior citizen interests within state government and communities and administers the federal Older Americans Act programs and state-funded programs.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
State Plumbing Board
R. Charles Whipple of Grand Rapids, recent graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2011. He succeeds Valerie J. Cotanche whose term has expired.
The State Plumbing Board makes recommendations per the plumbing code rules and licenses plumbers in the state.
This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
Electrical Administrative Board
David L. Bushouse of Kalamazoo, president of Bushouse Inspection Services in Oshtemo, is reappointed to represent insurance inspection bureaus operating in this state for a term expiring August 10, 2012.
Thelma P. Dobson of Farmington Hills, supervising engineer for DTE Energy, is reappointed to represent electrical energy supply agencies operating in this state for a term expiring August 10, 2012.
William (Frank) Donovan of Jackson, electrical inspector for the city of Jackson, is reappointed to represent chief electrical inspectors of municipalities for a term expiring August 10, 2012.
The Electrical Administrative Board, in addition to the inspection of wiring and its installation, establishes fees for inspection and appoints inspectors.

Elevator Safety Board
George A. Svinicki of Clark Lake, owner of Svinicki Building Design and Land Planning, is reappointed to represent architects and consulting engineers for a term expiring July 22, 2012.
The Elevator Safety Board responsibilities include the promulgation of rules, preparation of examinations, and issuance of elevator contractor licenses.
This reappointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
General Industry Safety Standards Commission
Jennifer Ewing of Traverse City, director of human resources for AlcoTec Wire Corporation, is appointed to represent management of principal industries in the state from companies with 200 or fewer employees for a term expiring March 26, 2011. She succeeds Dennis M. Emery whose term has expired.
The General Industry Safety Standards Commission is responsible for promulgating standards in accordance with the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act to prevent accidents in places of employment and to protect the lives and safety of employees.
This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
