Governor Granholm Announces Appointments to Civil Service Commission

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointment to the Civil Service Commission:
Kelly G. Keenan of Brighton, a Democrat and former legal counsel with the office of Governor Jennifer M. Granholm, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2014. He succeeds Bryan J. Waldman who has resigned.
Thomas M. Wardrop of Grand Rapids, an independent and president of Wardrop & Wardrop, P.C. law firm, is reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2016.
The Civil Service Commission, a bipartisan entity, is the oversight body for the state civil service system. Responsibilities include determining the classification of all positions in classified service, establishing rates of compensation for all classes of positions, approving or disapproving disbursements for personal services, creating rules and regulations covering all personnel transactions, and regulating all conditions of employment in classified service.
These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
