LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Civil Rights Commission:
Nabih H. Ayad, a Democrat of Canton, solo practitioner of the Law Offices of Nabih Ayad & Associates P.C., is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2011. He succeeds Mohammed A. Abdrabboh whose term has expired.
Karen Henry Stokes, a Republican of Grand Rapids, president of the Paul B. Henry Foundation, is reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2012.
Matthew J. Wesaw, an independent of Lansing, executive director of the United Tribes of Michigan, is reappointed for a term expiring December 31, 2012.
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission investigates alleged discrimination against any person in the areas protected by law, and works to secure the equal protection of such civil rights without discrimination.
These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
