Governor Granholm Announces Appointment to Western Michigan University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced that Mary A. Asmonga-Knapp of Battle Creek has been appointed to the Western Michigan University Board of Control. Asmonga-Knapp, family advocacy program manager for Defense Logistics Agency, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2016. She succeeds Sarah DeNooyer whose term has expired.
The duties of the university board of control include general supervision of the university, control of direction of all expenditures from university funds, the right to sue and be sued, and the adoption and alteration of a seal if desired.
This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963. It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
