Governor Granholm Announces Appointments to Grand Valley State University Board of Control

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Grand Valley State University Board of Control:  

Sue C. Carnell of Wayne, former deputy superintendent of Detroit Public Schools, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2016.  She succeeds Donna Brooks whose term has expired.

David L. Way of DeWitt, union representative with the United Food and Commercial Workers, is appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2016.  He succeeds Daniel Aronoff whose term has expired.

Duties of the university board of control include general supervision of the university, control of direction of all expenditures from university funds, the right to sue and be sued, and the adoption and alteration of a seal, if desired.

These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
