Governor Granholm Announces Appointments to Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments to the Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board:
The Honorable Donald Allen of Holt, judge of the 55th District Court, is appointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2012. He succeeds Mary Beth Kur whose term has expired.
Shirley Mann Gray of West Bloomfield, director of clinical support services for the Children's Hospital of Michigan, is appointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2010. She succeeds Princella E. Graham who has resigned.
Kym L. Worthy of Detroit, Wayne County prosecutor, is appointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2010. She succeeds Jerry Dorsey IV who has resigned.
Candace S. Cowling of Grand Rapids, executive director of the Child and Family Resource Council, is reappointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2012.
The Honorable Amy R. Krause of Lansing, judge of the 54-A District Court, is reappointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2012.
The Honorable Edward Sosnick of Bloomfield Hills, judge of the 6th Circuit Court, is reappointed to represent persons with experience in an area related to the problems of domestic violence for a term expiring September 30, 2012.
The Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board is responsible for coordinating and monitoring programs and services for the prevention of domestic violence and the treatment of victims of domestic violence, developing and recommending policy, and developing and providing technical assistance.
These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan Constitution of 1963. They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
