Governor Granholm Announces Appointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Certificate of Need Commission

Brian A. Klott, a Republican of Sterling Heights, senior manager of benefits initiatives and medical management with Chrysler Group, LLC, is appointed to represent companies that are self-insured for health coverage for a term expiring April 9, 2013.  He succeeds Thomas M. Smith whose term will expire.

Gay L. Landstrom, a Democrat of North Muskegon, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer with Trinity Health, is appointed to represent nurses for a term expiring January 1, 2013.  She succeeds Dorothy Deremo whose term has expired.

James B. Falahee, Jr., a Republican of Portage, senior vice president of legal and legislative affairs and corporate compliance officer with Bronson Healthcare Group, is reappointed to represent hospitals for a term expiring April 9, 2013.

Edward B. Goldman, a Democrat of Ann Arbor, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology with the University of Michigan Women's Hospital, is reappointed to represent hospitals for a term expiring April 9, 2013.

The Certificate of Need Commission reviews and determines the need for covered clinical services, health facilities, and other related activities being offered or developed in Michigan.

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Board of Marriage and Family Therapy

Jeffrey J. Angera of Mount Pleasant, associate professor in human development and family studies at Central Michigan University, is reappointed to represent licensed marriage and family therapists for a term expiring June 30, 2014.

Sama Harp of Dearborn Heights, HPRP case manager with Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Group, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2013.

Anita Taylor of Bloomfield Hills, psychologist in private practice, is reappointed to represent licensed marriage and family therapists for a term expiring June 30, 2013.

The Board of Marriage and Family Therapy is responsible for licensing and regulation of the practice of marriage and family therapy in Michigan.

These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Board of Medicine

Peter T. Graham, M.D. of East Lansing, vice president of Sparrow Health Systems, is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.  He succeeds Scot F. Goldberg whose term has expired.

Suzanne Hugly Thomashow, M.D., Ph.D. of East Lansing, physician with Turke and Thomashow Pediatrics, is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.  She succeeds Jeffrey Jones whose term has expired.

Oliver G. Cameron, M.D., Ph.D. of Ann Arbor, active emeritus professor of psychiatry for the University of Michigan Medical Center, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

David L. Dull, M.D. of Ada, vice president of quality for Spectrum Health, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Theresa L. Fraley of Huntington Woods, private consultant, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Michael K. Helmer of Bloomfield Hills, consultant for Comerica Charitable Services Group, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Vivian W. Leung of Okemos, principal with Global Exeter, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Leticia J. San Diego, Ph.D. of Clinton Township, consultant and president of Healthcare Management Development Center, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Cheryl Graham Solomon of Rochester Hills, director of marketing for the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

David S. Weingarden, M.D. of Southfield, president of David S. Weingarden, M.D. & Associates, P.C., is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

The Michigan Board of Medicine is responsible for the examination and licensing of persons prior to their entry into the practice of allopathic medicine in Michigan.  The board establishes minimal standards of acceptable practice, assesses penalties for when those standards are not met, and recommends licensure to schools or individuals once the designated board-created exam is passed.

These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management

Steven E. Roskos, M.D. of East Lansing, associate professor for Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, is appointed to represent Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for a term expiring July 1, 2011.  He succeeds Karen S. Ogle who has resigned.

The Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management is charged with addressing issues pertaining to pain and symptom management and developing an integrated approach to understanding and applying pain and symptom management techniques.

This appointment is not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists

Diane K. Andert, OTR of Battle Creek, president and principal of Kalamazoo Area Rehabilitation Services, Inc., is reappointed to represent occupational therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Christie L. Clipper of Taylor, owner of Healthy Edge, LLC, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Gerry E. Conti, M.S., OTR of Ypsilanti, assistant professor of occupational therapy with the Wayne State University Occupational Therapy Program, is reappointed to represent occupational therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

LoRon N. Polk of Canton is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Susan E. Robosan-Burt of Troy, adjunct faculty with the Macomb Community College Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and occupational therapist with Healthwise Home Health Care, is reappointed to represent occupational therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Grace A. M. Smith of Rockford, project manager for Tower Pinkster, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

The Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists provides for the registration of occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants.

These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

Steven Acker, D.O. of Ann Arbor, orthopedic surgeon with Midwest Health Center, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

Barry C. Kane of Grand Rapids, managing member and attorney with Kane & Co., PLC law firm, is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.

These reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee

James D. Forshee, M.D. of Grand Blanc, chief medical officer with Molina Healthcare, is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2011.  He succeeds Justus J. Fiechtner whose term has expired.

Daniel M. Ryan, M.D. of Birmingham, president of the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is appointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2011.  He succeeds Rockelle D. Rogers whose term has expired.

Jonathan M. Arend of Owosso, consultant pharmacist for Specialized Pharmacy Services, Inc., is reappointed to represent pharmacists for a term expiring October 1, 2011.

James E. Dillon, M.D. of Ann Arbor, director of psychiatric/medical services for the Corrections Mental Health and Substance Abuse Administration Program, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2011.

Giovannino A. Perri, M.D., M.P.H. of Lansing, chief medical consultant for the Michigan Department of Community Health Medical Services Administration, is reappointed to represent physicians for a term expiring October 1, 2011.

Paul F. Thill of Midland, associate professor of pharmacy practice with the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy, is reappointed to represent pharmacists for a term expiring October 1, 2011.

The Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee advises the Department of Community Health on issues affecting prescription drug coverage for its various health care programs. 

These reappointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.

Michigan Board of Physical Therapy

David W. Goldenbogen of Saginaw, director and physical therapist with Sport and Spine Physical Therapy and Rehab, is appointed to represent physical therapists for a term expiring December 31, 2013.

The Michigan Board of Physical Therapy provides for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of physical therapy.

This appointment is subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
