LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan moving 3,000 employees to the Renaissance Center in Detroit:
"Today's decision by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan to move 3,000 employees to Detroit's Renaissance Center is great news for the city and spectacular news for the riverfront and downtown Detroit.
"The Blue Cross decision, along with the earlier announcement by General Motors to maintain its headquarters and workforce at the Renaissance Center, finally provide the economic heft necessary to anchor a world-class downtown. And that's exciting news for everyone in Detroit and Michigan."
