Snyder appoints Civil Rights Commission member

LANSING, Mich.- Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Stephanie Comai to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission.

The commission, which was established by Michigan's 1963 Constitution, investigates alleged discrimination and works to protect civil rights.

"Stephanie is a tremendous addition to the commission and she will work to ensure that Michigan is a state that continues to consistently promote equality and prevent discrimination," Snyder said.

Comai, of Ann Arbor, previously served as a member of the Central Michigan University Board of Trustees. Prior to that, she was the former director of the e-Michigan office, where she oversaw a newly-created organization with a budget of more than $20 million. Comai served as a special advisor for information technology and director of the State Government Affairs Division under Gov. John Engler. She earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in public administration from George Washington University.

Comai replaces Eliya Boji and will serve a four-year term expiring December 31, 2014. The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
