LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the inaugural appointments to the Electronic Recording Commission.
Created in 2010, the commission establishes standards and practices to keep county registers of deeds in Michigan in harmony with the standards and practices of offices in other jurisdictions.
Diane Adams, Alessandro DiNello, Mary Hollinrake, Linda Landheer, Christian Meyer, Tom Richardson and Bambi Somerlott are appointed.
"These appointees have tremendous backgrounds and will play important roles in developing innovative ideas to ensure Michigan can become more efficient and adopt best practices in the 21st century," Snyder said.
Adams, of Saranac, is the Ionia County register of deeds. She is the past president of the Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds as well as a former member of the Michigan State Board of Professional Surveyors. Adams earned an associate degree from the Davenport College of Business. She represents county registers of deeds and will serve a one-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2012.
DiNello, of Jackson, is the executive vice president for retail banking at Flagstar Bank. He is a member of the Michigan Bankers Association Board of Directors and serves as the Michigan appointee to the American Bankers Association Government Relations Council Administrative Committee. He earned a bachelor's degree cum laude in accounting from Western Michigan University. He represents individuals engaged in the business of banking and will serve a three-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.
Hollinrake, of Grand Rapids, is the Kent County clerk and register of deeds. She previously served as chief deputy Kent County clerk and as a litigation legal specialist at Dykema Gossett. Hollinrake earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. She represents county registers of deeds and will serve a one-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2012.
Landheer, of Fremont, is the Newaygo County register of deeds. She formerly worked as a property appraiser for the Newaygo County Equalization Department. Landheer represents county registers of deeds and will serve a one-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2012.
Meyer, of Grand Rapids, is a partner at Warner Norcross & Judd LLP. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and political science from Calvin College, a master's degree in government and international relations from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from the University of Virginia. He represents attorneys who emphasizes real estate matters and will serve a two-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2013.
Richardson, of Ann Arbor, is general counsel and CEO of Liberty Title Agency. He earned a bachelor's degree with honors in economics from Harvard University and a law degree with honors from the University of Michigan. He represents individuals engaged in the land title profession and will serve a three-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.
Somerlott, of Hillsdale, is the Hillsdale County register of deeds and the current president of the Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds. She previously served as deputy register of deeds for Hillsdale County. She represents county registers of deeds and will serve a two-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2013.
Appointments to the Electronic Recording Commission are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
