Board of Nursing appointments announced

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today appointed Roselyn Argyle, Ron Basso and Elaine Stefanski to the Michigan Board of Nursing.

The board was created to establish qualifications for nurse licensure, educational standards to develop and implement criteria for continuing competency, and to take disciplinary action against licensees when the health, safety and welfare of the public has been adversely affected.

"These exceptional professionals will help ensure that Michiganders receive the best quality care and service," Snyder said.

Argyle, of Saginaw, is president and owner of A&D Home Health Care and A&D Health Care Professionals. She previously served as a professional staff member and lecturer at Delta College. Argyle earned a bachelor's degree from Saginaw Valley State College and is a licensed registered nurse. She represents professional registered nurses without a baccalaureate degree in nursing engaged in nursing practice or nursing administration. Argyle replaces Jeffrey Breslin.

Basso, of Iron River, is the president of Basso & Basso Legal & Consulting Services. He previously served in multiple roles with the former Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services. Basso earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a law degree from the University of Notre Dame. He received a certificate of completion from the Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Basso represents the general public and replaces Regina Allen.

Stefanski, of Grosse Pointe, is a licensed practical nurse and care manager at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe. She previously worked as a licensed practical nurse for Bon Secours Cottage Health Systems and Cottage Hospital of Grosse Pointe. Stefanski was named the "2007 Care Manager" by Continuum Home Care Services. She is attending the Detroit Practical School of Nursing. Stefanski represents licensed practical nurses and replaces Brenda Lewis.

Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring June 30, 2015, and are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
