Governor makes appointment to Talent Investment Board
June 13, 2012
LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Tony Day, of Union City, to the Talent Investment Board.
Housed within the Workforce Development Agency of the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the Talent Investment Board was created in 2011 and consists of 47 members who assist and advise the governor regarding compliance with the federal Workforce Investment Act and overall talent development.
"I am confident that Tony's background and experiences will be of great benefit to the board as they oversee the state's talent investment efforts, which play a key role in reinventing Michigan," said Snyder.
Day serves as facilities director for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi's Pine Creek Reservation and as the general manager of Skasge Power, a solar company owned by the tribe. Previously, he worked for United Parcel Service Inc. for nearly 25 years as a loader, driver, on-car supervisor, area operations supervisor and center manager.
Day will represent individuals with expertise relating to Native American programs for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
