LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Richard Reynolds, of Grosse Pointe, and the reappointment of Christina Eyers, of Plymouth, to the Michigan Board of Athletic Trainers.
The 11-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the licensure and practice of athletic trainers.
"I am confident that Richard and Christina will do great work on behalf of Michigan's more than 1,000 athletic trainers," said Snyder.
Reynolds is surgeon-in-chief and chief of orthopedic surgery at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, where he has worked since 2006. Previously, he served as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Reynolds holds bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and a master's degree in health care management from Harvard University. He will represent physicians and replaces Robert Baker.
Eyers is supervisor of athletic training at Henry Ford Health System, where she also has served as coordinator of athletic training and coordinator of performance enhancement programs. Previously, she held various leadership positions with Central Michigan University and served as an instructor and as assistant athletic trainer at Saginaw Valley State University. Eyers earned a bachelor's degree in movement science from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in health studies from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Central Michigan University. She will continue to represent athletic trainers.
Appointees will serve four-year terms that commence Jan. 1, 2013 and expire Dec. 31, 2016. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
