Governor makes appointments to Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Jamie Hsu, of Troy, and Toshiki Masaki, of Canton, to the Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission.
The 21-member commission advances the full and equal participation of Asian Pacific Americans in Michigan.
"I am confident Jamie and Toshiki will do great work on behalf of Michigan's Asian Pacific American residents and I appreciate their willingness to serve," said Snyder.
Hsu is an adjunct professor of management at Lawrence Technological University, where he also serves as a strategic management and leadership development consultant. He previously held various leadership positions with General Motors, including executive director of global technology management. Hsu holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from National Taiwan University and a master's degree and Ph.D. in solid mechanics from Brown University in Rhode Island. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Clyde Wu.
Masaki is manager of public policy for Ford Motor Co., where he has worked since 1988. He previously held the positions of senior financial analyst, reengineering supervisor, senior product design engineer and project management engineer. Masaki earned bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of California - Berkeley, respectively, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Marilyn Schlief.
Appointees will serve the remainder of four-year terms that expire Nov. 30, 2015, and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
