LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Chris Tracy, of Richland, to the Michigan Strategic Fund board of directors.
The 11-member board has broad authority over economic development and job creation in the state through the Michigan Business Development Program, Michigan Community Revitalization Program, Travel Michigan, Michigan Film Office, private activity bonds, Community Development Block Grant awards, and as fiduciary agent for the 21st Century Jobs Fund.
“Chris is an experienced professional and I am confident he will make positive contributions to the board,” Snyder said.
Tracy is an attorney at Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn. He previously worked with Howard & Howard Attorneys, Fognani Guibord Homsy & Roberts, as an assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and clerked for Judge Patrick Duggan in the Eastern District of Michigan. He serves on the board of Southwest Michigan First, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kalamazoo, and is the 2014 Kalamazoo Campaign chair for United Way. Tracy earned a bachelor’s degree in political theory from Michigan State University and a degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Craig DeNooyer and is the nominee of the speaker of the House.
Tracy will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2016. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
