Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment and reappointments to the Michigan Bean Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of James Roggenbuck, of Harbor Beach, and the reappointments of Greg Ackerman, of Vassar, Neil French, of Munger, and Clinton Stoutenburg, of Sandusky, to the Michigan Bean Commission.
The nine-member commission oversees research and promotes the bean industry in Michigan.
“These experienced appointees will be valuable assets to the commission as it continues to promote Michigan’s bean industry,” Snyder said.
Appointed:
Roggenbuck is owner of Helena Farms, LLC, where he manages a 5,000 acre farm and raises beef cattle. He currently sits on the Michigan Sugar Board of Directors and is the current chairman of the east district and serves on the grower relations committee. He represents district four and replaces Allen Bischer.
Reappointed:
Ackerman is the managing member of Ackerman & Son LLC, a cash crop farm. He currently serves on the Dry Bean & Sugar Beet Advisory Committee for Farm Bureau and previously served as the president of the Tuscola County Farm Bureau. Ackerman studied agriculture at Michigan State University and continues to represent district three.
French is the grower relations manager for ADM Edible Bean Specialties Inc., a dry bean elevator/processor. He has farmed on a family farm for 42 years, including navy beans, soybeans, corn, and wheat. French holds a degree in elevator management from Michigan State University and continues to represent processors, shippers and handlers.
Stoutenburg is the owner of Stoutenburg Farms, where he manages a 7,000 acre farm with his father and raises feeder cattle. Stoutenburg holds a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. He will continue to represent District 4.
Members will serve three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2018. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
