LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of John (Jack) O’Reilly, of Dearborn, to the Michigan Economic Development Corp. Executive Committee.
The 20-member committee is charged with overall management and guidance of MEDC projects and policy initiatives.
“I thank Jack for his willingness to serve on this important committee and look forward to his contributions as we continue to reinvent Michigan,” Snyder said.
O’Reilly is the mayor of Dearborn and has been an elected public servant in Dearborn since 1990. Mayor O’Reilly has experience in regional, state, and federal levels of government, and has participated on or led many boards, task forces and high level committees. Mayor O’Reilly was named to the board of directors of the Michigan Municipal League in 2013, and served as the 2014 chair of the Downriver Community Conference, following many other leadership positions he held with the regional organization. He also maintains an active role with the Urban Core Mayors, a bipartisan, multi-regional coalition of 13 central city mayors, and the Conference of Western Wayne. He is involved with the United States Conference of Mayors and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments. He holds an associate’s degree from Oakland University, as well as a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Detroit. He represents public agencies and fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Dayne Walling.
O’Reilly will serve the remainder of an eight-year term expiring April 5, 2016. His appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
