Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to Lake Superior State University Board of Trustees

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Thomas Bailey, of Petoskey, and Randy Pingatore, of Sault St. Marie, to the Lake Superior State University Board of Trustees.

The eight-person board is the governing body of the university.

“Thomas and Randy are talented professionals and they will be valuable assets to the board and the university,” Snyder said.

Bailey is currently the executive director of the Little Traverse Conservancy in Harbor Springs, a position he has held for 29 years.  He previously worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources within the hazardous waste and water quality divisions, as well as the DNR Water Quality Division. Bailey is the co-founder of the Heart of the Lakes Center for Land Conservation Policy board. He is also the co-founder of the Harbor Area Board of Resources and the Dark Sky Coast Association.  Bailey holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and replaces Patrick Egan.

Pingatore is the president and agency principal of Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Services in Sault Ste. Marie.  He previously worked at Bonacci-Pingatore Associates, a licensed insurance agent for multiple states.  Pingatore is a certified insurance counselor and a licensed insurance counselor from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He currently sits on the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and is a founding member of the LSSU Foundation Board. Pingatore holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Lake Superior State University. He replaces Scot A. Lindemann.

Members serve eight-year terms expiring Jan. 27, 2024. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
