Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jayashree Kommareddi, of Grand Blanc, to the Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board.

Created by Public Act 461 of 2014, the seven-member board is housed within the Department of Health and Human Services. The board collects and analyzes information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking, identify state, federal and local agencies that are involved with issues relating to human trafficking, and coordinates the dissemination of information concerning medical and mental health services available to survivors of human trafficking in Michigan.

“Jayashree brings a wealth of knowledge to the board and I thank her for her service,” Snyder said.

Kommareddi is the office manager for Prasad Kommareddi, M.D. She previously held leadership positions with the Genesee County Medical Society Alliance, Michigan State Medical Society and the American Democracy Project at the University of Michigan-Flint. She currently serves on the boards of the Mott Children's Health Center in Flint and Genesee County's Free Medical Clinic. She also chairs the initiative on child sex trafficking for the Michigan Women's Commission. Kommareddi earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from Delhi University in India. She will represent individuals with experience and expertise in the field of intervention in or prevention of human trafficking or treatment of human trafficking survivors and fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Erin Diamond.

Kommareddi will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018 and will serve as chair expiring at the pleasure of the governor. Her appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
