LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Karsten Bekemeier of East Lansing, Justin Caine of Lansing, Todd Culver of Haslett, Butch Ellis of Lansing, and Genevieve Hayes of Royal Oak.
Housed within the Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the committee was designed to oversee the purchase of goods and services from community rehabilitation organizations.
“I thank these appointees for their service on this committee and look forward to their contributions on behalf of the people and communities of Michigan,” Snyder said.
Bekemeier is a policy consultant of the Michigan Vocational Rehabilitation Program within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. He is a certified rehabilitation counselor, as well as a licensed professional counselor. He currently serves as a board member of the National Rehabilitation Association. Bekemeier earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Michigan University and both a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and a doctorate in rehabilitation counseling education from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent Michigan Rehabilitation Services.
Caine is president and CEO of Beyond Our Barriers and co-owner of Good Fruit Video. He will continue to represent members at large.
Culver is the executive director of the Michigan Association of Rehabilitation Organizations. He previously served as a physical education specialist with Montessori Children’s House and is a board member on the Michigan Nonprofit Association, a council chair on the Central United Methodist Church, and a board member serving as treasurer of the BOOM (Be Our Own Motivation) committee. Culver holds both his bachelor’s and master’s of arts from the University of Michigan. He continues to represent statewide nonprofits concerned with community rehabilitation organizations and will serve as chair.
Ellis is the founder and chairman of Lansing Sanitary, Inc. and Indusco Supply Company, Inc.. He serves on both the International Sanitary Supply Association Board and the Greater Michigan Sanitary Supply Association Board. Ellis earned a distribution certification accredited through Western Michigan University. He will continue to represent members at large.
Hayes is the business development manager with Department of Technology, Management and Budget’s Procurement Office. She served as acting director of the services division and acting director of the information technology division within the department. Hayes holds her bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Michigan and her master’s degree in business administration from Wayne State University. She will continue to represent the purchasing division of the department.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring May 21, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
