Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the State Construction Code Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Matt Zurbrick of Ortonville, and the reappointments of Michael Boss of Kalkaska, and Joseph Sucher of Clarkston to the State Construction Code Commission.
Housed in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 17-member commission enforces and oversees construction code throughout the state.
“This is a talented group of appointees who bring many years of professional experience to this commission, and I am confident they will bring insight to the industry,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Zurbrick is the director of business development for the M1 Concourse, an 87-acre auto enthusiast destination located off of Woodward Avenue. He previously served as a personal trainer and nutritional advisor at Retrofit Studio. Zurbrick holds a bachelor’s degree in nutritional science from Michigan State University. He will represent the general public and replaces Sean O’Neil.
Reappointments:
Boss is director of professional services for Boss Engineering Co. and served in numerous capacities including staff engineer, project manager and director of engineering services. Boss brings extensive experience with privately and government-funded projects, design and construction of residential, commercial and industrial developments, sewer and water plant design and planning, and landscape architectural services. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Michigan State University and holds numerous professional certifications. He will continue to represent engineers.
Sucher, now retired, is a former member of the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council. He also served on the city’s planning commission for seven years. He has experience as adjunct faculty at Macomb Community College and Wayne State University and also served as director of institutional effectiveness at Macomb Community College. Sucher holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Lawrence Technological University and a master’s degree and doctorate in evaluation and research from Wayne State University. He will continue to represent the general public.
Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring Jan. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
