Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Advisory Board for the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center for Homeland Security

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Timothy Bourgeois of Parchment and Richard Fenton of Ann Arbor to the advisory board for the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center (MIOC) for Homeland Security.

The 11-member advisory board makes recommendations regarding the MIOC’s privacy policy and management policies and procedures. The MIOC collects, evaluates, organizes and analyzes information and intelligence, passing it along to the proper public safety agencies to identify and address safety and security threats to the state.

"I thank Timothy and Richard for their service and the many years of professional experience they bring to this important board," Snyder said. "I look forward to their ongoing efforts to help protect all Michiganders."

Bourgeois is chief of police for the Charter Township of Kalamazoo. He is a graduate of the Kalamazoo Regional Training Academy and the FBI National Academy in Quantico. Bourgeois holds a bachelor’s’ degree in public service administration from Siena Heights College and a master’s degree in public administration from Western Michigan University. He will continue to represent chiefs of police.

Fenton is vice president of corporate security at Ilitch Holdings, Inc. He has an extensive background in law enforcement and security in both the public and private sectors. Fenton is a certified sports security professional, a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico and a graduate of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute. Fenton holds a bachelor’s degree in police administration from Wayne State University and a master’s degree in counseling from Eastern Michigan University. He will continue to represent Michigan residents.

Appointees will serve four-year terms expiring April 11, 2020. Appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
