Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment to the Compensation Appellate Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of David DeGraw of Grand Rapids to the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission.
The nine-member commission, reorganized by Executive Order 2011-6, reviews appeals decisions in cases involving unemployment insurance benefits and workers' compensation.
"David is an experienced professional and I look forward to the good work he will do in support of Michigan’s working families and job providers," Snyder said.
DeGraw is a trial attorney and equity shareholder at Smith, Haughey, Rice, & Roegge Law Firm. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the U.S. District Court, Western District of Michigan since 1989, and U.S. District Court of Eastern Michigan since 2005. DeGraw serves as a special assistant Attorney General, is a member of the American Bar Association, as well as the Grand Rapids Bar Association. DeGraw holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Michigan State University and a law degree from the Thomas Cooley Law School. He will fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Gregory Przybylo.
DeGraw will serve the remainder of a four-year term commencing May 23, 2016 and expiring July 31, 2019. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
