Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Wheat Promotion Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Brent Wagner of Grawn, and the reappointments of Gerald Heck of Monroe and Frank Vyskocil of New Lothrop to the Michigan Wheat Promotion Committee.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the nine-member committee oversees the wheat marketing program and consists of wheat farmers from across Michigan.
“These individuals bring decades of farming experience to this committee and I thank them for their willingness to serve,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Wagner owns Wagner Farms, LLC. Wagner served as chairman of the Farm Service Agency, and currently serves on the Traverse City Farm Bureau Board. Wagner attended Northwestern Michigan College. He will represent District 8 growers and replaces Chris Schmidt.
Reappointments:
Heck is the owner of Heck Farms, LLC and farms 800 acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat. He received the 2010 Ecology Leadership Award from the Monroe County Farm Bureau and the 2010 Conservation Farm of the Year. Heck holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent District 3 growers.
Vyskocil is the owner of Shiawassee Valley Farms and farms 2,500 acres of wheat, corn, and soybeans. Vyskocil serves on the Greenstone Advisory Board and Hazelton Board of Review. He will continue to represent District 6 growers.
Appointees serve three-year terms expiring May 31, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
