Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Elevator Safety Board

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments Mark Pawlowski of Mason as well as the reappointments of U. Renee Hall of Detroit, Mark Smith of Muskegon and John Vitale of Grosse Pointe Woods to the Elevator Safety Board.
Housed within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 11-member board is responsible for guidelines, preparation of examinations, and issuance of elevator contractor licenses.
"I am thankful for this group of individuals’ willingness to serve on this board," Snyder said.
Appointment:
Pawlowski is the existing installations superintendent for the Schindler Elevator Corporation. He also is a certified quality elevator inspector. He will represent manufacturers of elevators and replace Donald Purdie.
Reappointments:
Hall is the deputy chief of the Detroit Police Department. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University and two master’s degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy. She will continue to represent a municipality in the state having a population of at least 500,000.
Smith is vice president for underwriting at Michigan Millers Mutual, and previously served as director of commercial lines underwriting at Hastings Mutual Insurance Co. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Ferris State University. He will continue to represent insurance companies authorized to insure elevators in the state.
Vitale is an architect and the president of Stucky-Vitale Architects. His is a licensed residential builder and has worked on projects for numerous universities, hospitals and other corporations around the country. Vitale holds both a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a bachelor’s of architecture from Lawrence Technological University. He will continue to represent architects and consulting engineers.
Smith will serve a four-year term expiring July 22, 2019. Pawlowski, Hall, and Vitale will serve four-year terms expiring July 22, 2020. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
