Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Council on Arts and Cultural Affairs

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Ann Belanger of Rogers City and the reappointments of Rich Homberg of Bloomfield Hills, Susannah Goodman of Detroit, Carol Snapp of Kalamazoo and Shannon White of Fenton to the Michigan Council on Arts and Cultural Affairs.

The 15-member council, housed in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, helps create an environment of artistic, creative and cultural activity to support Michigan's quality of life and economic vitality.

“I thank this group of individuals for their commitment to this council and the activities it supports,” Snyder said.

Appointment:

Belanger is the regional outreach and program director for Presque Isle District Library and serves as the vice chair on the Michigan Humanities Council. She holds an associate’s degree from Oakland Community College. She will replace Nicole Nason.

Reappointments:

Homberg is the president and CEO of Detroit Public Television. Prior to his work at DPTV, Homberg served as vice president and general manager of WWJ Newsradio 950. Homberg holds a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film from Temple University.

Goodman is a program manager at Living Arts in Detroit, as well as a studio manager for Ladybug Studios. She previously served as a school group facilitator for the Detroit Institute of Arts. Goodman holds a bachelor’s of fine arts from Greensboro, North Carolina-based Guilford College and completed an apprenticeship in functional wood-fired pottery from Tye River Pottery.

Snapp is a program officer for the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation. She served as the communications manager and program officer for Arcus Foundation, executive director of Wellspring/Cori Terry and Dancers, and curator of exhibitions and collections at the Art Center of Battle Creek. Snapp holds a bachelor’s degree in studio art with concentrations in sculpture and dance from Western Michigan University.

White is the founding principal of FUNchitecture. She has more than 15 years of experience working on educational, municipal, religious, corporate, residential, and retail projects. White holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Michigan. 

Members will serve three-year terms expiring Sept. 1, 2019.
