Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the Utility Consumer Participation Board

LANSING, Mich. ? Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Samuel Passmore of Ann Arbor and Brian Vilmont of Grand Rapids, as well as the reappointments of James MacInnes of Beulah, Susan Haroutunian of Detroit and Paul Isley of Grand Rapids to the state Utility Consumer Participation Board.
The board provides grants to qualified applicants representing Michigan's residential energy utility customers before proceedings of the Michigan Public Service Commission. Funding is generated through annual assessment of DTE Energy and Consumers Energy.
"I thank these individuals for their willingness to serve on this board," said Snyder.
Appointments:
Passmore is the program director of environment for the C.S. Mott Foundation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and environmental studies from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University. He will replace Ryan Dinkgrave.
Vilmont is a senior engineer and project manager for the consulting agency Prein&Newhof. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. He will replace Conan Smith.
Reappointments:
Haroutunian is counsel to the law firm Haroutunian Licata Haroutunian, PC. Previously she was a self-employed attorney in a private practice in Detroit. She holds a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Wayne State University. She will continue to serve as a nominee from the Attorney General.
MacInnes is chairman and chief executive officer of Crystal Mountain Resort. He is licensed in Michigan as a professional engineer, real estate broker, and residential builder. MacInnes holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical power engineering and a master’s of business administration in finance and operations research from the University of California, Irvine. He recently received the Governor’s Energy Excellence Award as an Innovator of the Year. He will continue to serve as chairperson at the pleasure of the Governor.
Isely is an associate dean and professor of economics for the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. Isely holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and economics from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree and PhD in economics from Purdue University.
Members serve two-year terms expiring January 13, 2017.
