Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments, reappointments to the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Craig Glines of Riverview as well as the reappointments of Sheryl Thompson of Reed City and David Walters of Brighton to the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.
The 11-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of more than 8,200 osteopathic doctors.
"I want to thank these individuals for serving on this board and I am confident they will positively contribute to the oversight of Michigan’s osteopathic doctors,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
Glines is the chief academic officer and designated institutional official at Botsford Hospital. He also is the designated institutional official, director of medical education and associate medical director of obstetrics and gynecology and director of the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center. Glines holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in business administration from Madonna University and a doctor of osteopathy from Michigan State University. He will represent physicians and fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Susan Sevensma.
Reappointments:
Thompson retired in 2012 as vice president of Thompson Milk Hauling. She previously served as secretary on the Osceola County Community Foundation board of directors, and trustee of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. Thompson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and social science from Hanover College. She will continue to represent the general public.
Walters is senior vice president at Botsford Hospital. He is a member of the American College of Physicians Executives and a fellow with the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Osteopathic College of Emergency Physicians. He holds a bachelor's degree in medical technology and a doctorate degree in osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University as well as a master's degree in health service administration from the University of Michigan. He will continue to represent physicians.
Glines will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018. Thompson and Walters will serve four-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
