LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Brad Jacobsen of Oxford to the Liquor Control Commission.
Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the five-member commission is responsible for managing the beer, wine, distilled and mixed spirit drink industries in Michigan. This includes licensing products and establishments, as well as enforcing the state's liquor laws. No more than three members can serve from the same political party.
“I thank Brad for his commitment to serving on this commission. I am confident the experiences he’s had as a public servant will allow him to bring positive input to this board and ensure the proper execution of liquor distribution and laws throughout Michigan,” Snyder said.
Jacobsen served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives. He was founder and president for ‘Grow Oakland!’ a non-profit organization to make and encourage positive investments in Northern Oakland County and the surrounding communities. He also has served as an Oakland County Commissioner and an Oxford Charter Township Trustee. Jacobsen holds a bachelor’s degree in social economic policy from the James Madison College of Michigan State University.
Jacobsen will represent Republicans and replace Edward Gaffney.
He will serve a four-year term effective Feb. 27, 2017 and expiring June 12, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
