Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointments to the Detroit Financial Review Commission

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Darrell Burks of Bloomfield Hills, Stacy Fox of Detroit, and David Nicholson of Grosse Pointe to the Detroit Financial Review Commission.
The nine-member commission was created by the “Grand Bargain” legislative package to ensure the city of Detroit is meeting statutory requirements, reviewing and approving the city's four-year financial plan, and establishing programs and requirements for prudent fiscal management, among other roles and responsibilities.
“I thank these individuals for serving on this commission and I am confident their backgrounds will allow them to help assist Detroit with its finances,” Snyder said.
Burks retired in 2012 with more than 34 years of experience as a certified public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he specialized in business risk, internal control matters, and delivered a wide range of audit and related business advisory services to clients in various sectors. Burks holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University.
Fox is senior vice president and general counsel for DuPont as well as founder and principal of the real estate development and investment firm The Roxbury Group. She is a member of the executive committee and chair of the stakeholder committee for the Downtown Detroit Parnership. Fox holds a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Michigan. She will serve as the nominee of the Senate Majority Leader.
Nicholson is the chief executive officer of PVS Chemical’s Manufacturing Group and serves on the Wayne State University Board of Governors. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Chicago. He will serve as the nominee of the Speaker of the House and replace Bill Martin.
Appointees will represent individuals who have the knowledge, skill, or experience in business, budgeting, revenue forecasting, debt management or borrowing, actuarial science, law, or business.
Burks will serve the remainder of Fox’s term expiring Nov. 9, 2018, Fox will serve the remainder of Burks’ term expiring Nov. 9, 2017, and Nicholson will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Nov. 9, 2020.
