Gov. Rick Snyder makes reappointments to the Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Wassim (Dave) Abdallah of Dearborn Heights, Susan Dabaja of Dearborn, Ronald Haddad of Dearborn, Sharif Hussein of Grand Ledge, and Adel Mozip of Dearborn to the Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs.
Housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the 15-member commission was created to act in an advisory capacity to the Governor.
“I thank these individuals for their continued commitment to this commission and to serving as a voice for the Middle Eastern American community in Michigan,” Snyder said.
Abdallah is a realtor for Century 21 Curran & Christie. He is chairman of the board of the Islamic Institute of Knowledge, serves as a member of the Islamic Center of America Board of Directors, is director of the Bint Jabil Cultural Center, and is a councilman for the City of Dearborn Heights. Abdallah holds an associate’s degree from Oakland Community College and a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Michigan.
Dabaja is president of the Dearborn City Council and and attorney of counsel to Farhat & Associates, PLLC. She is co-chair of the Dearborn Education Foundation and treasurer of the Dearborn Bar Association. Dabaja holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
Haddad has served as Dearborn’s chief of police since 2008. He previously served as security chief for the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit and as deputy chief of police for the Detroit Police Department. Haddad holds associate’s degrees from Highland Park Community College and the University of Detroit Mercy, a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and protection from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary technology from Eastern Michigan University. He also is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
Hussein is a board member and the chief strategy officer for Client Network Services Inc., and was previously the senior executive director and United Arab Emirates general manager for BearingPoint Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maryland and completed the executive leadership program at the Yale School of Management.
Mozip is a software developer for Urban Science, Inc. He co-founded the American Association of Yemeni Students and Professionals and is a community advisor to the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services. Mozip holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and science from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business from Wayne State University.
Members will serve four-year terms expiring April 19, 2021.
