University of Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel joins Hollis as honorary co-chair

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointments of Peaches McCahill of Grand Rapids, Florine Mark of Farmington Hills, Nolan Moody of Ann Arbor, Tori Sager of Marquette, and Raquel Thueme of Waterford to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. Snyder also announced the appointment of University of Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel, who will join Michigan State University Athletic Director Mark Hollis as honorary co-chair of the council.
The 15-member council works to improve lives and strengthen communities by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. In an effort to further promote healthy lifestyles, the council hosts the Governor’s Annual Fitness Awards, which recognizes Michiganders who have overcome obstacles along their health and fitness journeys.
“I thank these individuals for their continued commitment to improving the lives of Michiganders through health and wellness,” Snyder said.
McCahill is the president of The McCahill Group, a consulting and management firm which specializes in health and beauty. She has extensive experience in design, education, and management of corporate wellness systems. McCahill holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in therapeutic recreation and industrial recreation from Michigan State University. She will continue to serve as chair.
Mark is the president and CEO of The WW Group, Inc. She is widely known as a successful entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and humanitarian. Mark holds an honorary doctorate from Central Michigan University.
Moody is an attorney at Dickinson Wright. He is a former pitcher for Michigan State and a professional pitcher in the Detroit Tigers’ minor leagues. Moody holds a bachelor’s in business administration and a law degree from Michigan State University.
Sager is the co-founder of Fellow Flowers, a women’s running company that honors, shares, and celebrates the reasons women run. She previously served as an elementary teacher, guidance counselor, and basketball coach in the Negaunee Public Schools. She played collegiate basketball at Southwestern Michigan College and has been a volunteer coach in the community for the past 15 years. Sager holds an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Southwestern Michigan College, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northern Michigan University and a master’s degree in guidance counseling from Northern Michigan University.
Thueme is program director for the Ruth Mott Foundation. She served as president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, as a health care and management consultant for ISM Management and as a vice president of Trinity Health. Thueme holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard University and master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
Members will serve two-year terms expiring April 30, 2019.
