Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to the Michigan Apple Committee

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jeremy Shank of Dowagiac, as well as the reappointments of Mike Dietrich of Conklin and Damon Glei of Hillsdale to the Michigan Apple Committee.
The committee's seven members develop and implement marketing programs and educational activities on behalf of more than 900 family apple growers in the state.
"I thank these individuals for their commitment to serving on this committee and marketing Michigan’s apple industry," Snyder said.
Appointment:
Shank is a chemical application/food safety coordinator with Central Produce Sales, Inc., which farms more than 130 acres of apples and various vegetables. Shank served on the company’s Apple Research Subcommittee. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and will replace Gary Bartley.
Reappointments:
Dietrich is a partner with Leo Dietrich & Sons LLC, a sixth-generation family farm with 400 acres of apples, 70 acres of cherries, and a fresh sweet cherry and apple-packing line. Dietrich also served as chairman of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau Candidate Evaluation Committee.
Glei is a manager of Glei’s Inc., which grows apples, perennials, annuals, Christmas trees, florist flowers, and many types of vegetables. Glei holds a degree in business administration from Michigan State University.
Appointees will serve three-year terms expiring April 1, 2020. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
