LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the reappointment of Suresh Mukherji of Northville to the Certificate of Need Commission.
The 11-member commission regulates and balances cost, quality, and access to Michigan's health care system. It also develops, revises and determines approval for Certificate of Need standards. No more than six members can be from the same political party.
"I thank Suresh for his commitment to this commission and I am confident in his ability to continue regulating aspects of our state’s health care system," Snyder said.
Mukherji is a professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology at Michigan State University. He previously served as a professor of radiology and division director of neuroradiology at the University of Michigan. Mukherji holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology and economics from Duke University, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and a medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School. He will continue to represent Republicans and physicians representing a school of medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Mukherji will serve a three-year term expiring January 1, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
