LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Duncan McMillan of East Grand Rapids to the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission.
The nine-member commission reviews appeals decisions in cases involving unemployment insurance benefits and workers' compensation.
"Duncan has a great deal of experience in this field and I look forward to his contributions to this commission," Snyder said.
McMillan is an attorney at Kluczynski, Girtz and Vogelzang where he handles appeals in worker’s compensation law before the Michigan Workers Compensation Appeal Board, the Workers Compensation Appellate Commission, the Michigan Compensation Appellate Commission, the Michigan Court of Appeals, and the Michigan Supreme Court. McMillan holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics and a law degree from the University of Michigan. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Rachel Lipinski.
McMillan will serve the remainder of a four-year term commencing June 19, 2017 and expiring July 31, 2019. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
