LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Valerie Snyder to the Probate Court for Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.
“Based on Valerie Snyder’s long history of public service in the community, I’m confident she will excel as a probate judge,” Snyder said.
Since 1996, Snyder has been in private practice in Charlevoix, focusing on real estate and estate planning. She has significant experience in probate matters, including wills, estates and trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships and juvenile matters. She began her career at the Law Offices of Pointner, Joseph & Corcoran as an associate attorney.
Snyder currently serves as school board president for Charlevoix Public Schools. She has served on the Charlevoix City Council, the city planning commission and the Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Emmet-Charlevoix Bar Association
Snyder earned a bachelor’s degree from Adrian College in 1992 and her law degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1995. She fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Frederick Mulhauser. Snyder must seek election in November 2018 for a new full term.
